Power Outages For Thousands in Tri-State

(Cincinnati) At about 6:30 Sunday night Tornado Warnings started being issued by the National Weather Service for counties in the Tri-state. Gusty winds up to 60 m.p.h. paired with powerful downpours downed trees and power lines in roads and yards. Fire crews reported severe roof damage at El Rio Grande Restaurant in Newport. The top facade for a large part of the plaza was flipped back onto the roof. Thousands of Duke Energy customers lost power, with about 34,800 without power at the peak of the outage. Crews worked through the night to restore power. All customers are expected to have power restored by Monday afternoon. A Duke Energy worker was injured Monday while working on the downed lines in Covington. The crew member touched a hot line in the 5900 block of Liberman Road at about 6 a.m. HIs injuries are not considered life threatening.
