Chesterfield, VA (1140wrva.com) – The fuel that spilled from Thursday morning's tanker accident on I-95 South should not cause problems for Hopewell's water supply. Virginia American Water says they have put booms in front of their intake valves on Swift Creek, where thousands of gallons of fuel ended up.
The company also says they filled their tanks prior to the fuel moving, to ensure they had a large amount of clean water in the system. The fuel entered the creek about 10 miles upstream.
The boom will remain in place until the fuel has passed.
