Richmond, VA ( – Former Governor Bob McDonnell (R) and First Lady Maureen McDonnell will have their fates determined by a jury.  The judge denied motions to dismiss the charges against the former First Couple.

The couple's lawyers argued several points, including that prosecutors failed to prove official acts were exchanged for the gifts and loans.  The Governor's lawyers also argued that since the loan checks were not made out to him, he did not have to report them on a loan application.

The denial of the motions is not surprising.  Defense lawyers almost always ask for them, but they are rarely granted.  The defense will now begin its case Monday.
