Richmond, VA ( – The suicide of Robin Williams has brought a renewed focus to mental health and the problem of depression.  David Rockwell, with Henrico Mental Health, says as many as one in four Americans faces depression at some point in their lifetime.

Rockwell says it is not better publicized because there is a stigma to mental issues, and people worry about losing their jobs.  He says friends should be on the lookout for signs like feelings of hopelessness, or being trapped, as well as discussions of killing themselves.

Rockwell says there are places to go, including psychiatrists, but also, local community services boards.  He says the Williams' suicide will bring a focus, but he worries the conversation will not remain long-term.
