Richmond, Va.  ( UPDATE:  A Fort Lee Soldier has been pronounced dead at VCU Medical Center after a morning incident in which she allegedly shot herself inside the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command headquarters building at the post.




UPDATE:  Fort Lee has given the all clear following an incident on base this morning.

Fort Lee first responders responded to a report of a female Soldier with a gun inside the Combined Arms Support
Command Headquarters, Bldg. 5020 at approximately 9 a.m. Monday. 

Early reports indicate the Soldier turned the weapon on herself and fired  one shot, injuring herself. The Soldier was transported Virginia  Commonwealth University Medical Center.  Her condition is not known at this

Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command are on  scene and investigating the incident.  Fort Lee officials take this incident very seriously and are fully cooperating with the investigation.



UPDATE:  Message on base's website: An all clear has been issued by the the Fort Lee installions center at 9:50am.  The law enforcement event is over.


Fort Lee in Petersburg is on lockdown.  The website is describing the situation as an "Active Shooter Situation":  Here is the notice on the Fort Lee website:

An active shooter incident has been reported on Fort Lee at CASCOM HQ, Bldg. 5020. All personnel should enact active shooter protocols immediately. The installation is being locked down until further notice. More info to follow.
