Henrico County, VA _ Spirit Airlines will become the latest low fare carrier to come to the Richmond area. Starting March 15, 2018, Spirit will begin daily, nonstop service from RIC to Orlando International Airport and Fort Lauderdale0Hollywood International Airport. Richmond will become the 62nd destination to join Spirit's growing network.
Spirit customers start with an unbundled Bare Fare™ and get Frill Control™ which allows them to pay only for the options they choose – like bags, seat assignments and refreshments – the things other airlines bake into their ticket prices. Spirit says they help people save money and travel more often, create new jobs and stimulate business growth in the communities they serve and that their Fit Fleet is one of the youngest, most fuel-efficient in the U.S.
“As a Richmond native, I’m thrilled to bring our ultra-low fares to my hometown,” said Bobby Schroeter, Spirit Airlines' Vice President of Consumer Marketing. “Watching both this community and this airline grow and change over the last decade, I know the time is right to bring Spirit to Virginia. Our commitment to low fares will bring more travel opportunities to the area, whether it be a family theme park vacation or last-minute beach getaway.”
Spirit operates more than 450 daily flights to 60 destinations in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean. For more information and to purchase tickets visit Spirit.com.
